We are pleased to invite you to attend the VIIIth International Conference on Asian Youth and Childhoods 2007 which will take place from 22nd to 24th November 2007 in the City of Lucknow , the capital of Uttar Pradesh, in North India . The Conference is being jointly organized by JNPG College, Lucknow and the Circle for Child and Youth Research Cooperation in India . The Conference is an official event of Research Committee of Youth (RC:34) & Research Committee of Childhood (RC:53),International Sociological Association (ISA).Over the last decade, International Conference on Asian Youth has established a reputation as a focal point for new ideas and new practices in social sciences and humanities research and teaching. The previous Conferences were held in Macao, Shanghai & Beijing in 2005, 2004 & 2003 respectively .
 
     
 

The social change in the era of globalization brings many new challenges for children and youth of the every developing society. Asia consists of many developing societies which are passing through a transitional phase of modernization. Youth and children in Asian societies are facing many new challenges. This Conference focuses on Asian youth and childhoods in Asian countries as well as in outside Asia . It will be the most significant and prestigious event addressing the issues related to children and youth to occur in Asia for many years. The academic programme will reflect the highest standards and provide an opportunity for those from all social science disciplines working at every stage of professional development to participate in sharing knowledge and experience and to learn from sources of expertise with highly regarded international reputations. We intend that this Conference will play a significant role in informing professionals on the future shape and boundaries of Asian youth and childhoods to locate their place not only in Asia but throughout the world.

The city is a beautiful combination of Mughal art and architecture with a modern infrastructure. Situated about 500 kilometers from India's capital, New Delhi, you can also reach other major tourist destinations such as The Taj Mahal in Agra, the holy city of Varanasi, the spiritual capitals of Hinduism such as Hardwar and Rishikesh, as well as the famous palaces of the Maharajahs of Rajasthan.

 
     
 

The Conference Registration Brochure and Programme is available on the website . The Conference Fee has been set at costs that will allow people at all levels within academic and research institutions to attend. We encourage you to diarise these dates and begin your planning for 2007. Please watch for more details and also consider submitting a proposal for the appropriate technical session or an abstract for presentation. However, at this stage we are unable to extend any form of financial assistance to delegates who wish to attend the Conference.
